Why you should be aware of too little bandwidth for your website hosting

Why you should be aware of too little bandwidth for your website hosting

What is bandwidth? Bandwidth is how much traffic or time you have to spend on the Internet each month before it runs out, but is also how much traffic your website can get through your website host

Make sure you get enough bandwidth when you arrange your website hosting.

Be sure of the different bandwidth packages your web host offers.

Do you really want to just dive in and make the wrong bandwidth choices for your website?

You don't want to limit traffic to your site!

You don't want this to happen to you:

You've finally got yourself a website that beautifully represents your business. The monthly hosting fee is not costing you much at all and you're pleased with the choices you've made regarding your hosting package.

You've spent a lot of time, effort and money on the Search Engine Optimization of your website, and it's being found easily for a multitude of keywords. What's more, business is picking up and you're making more money than you thought you ever would.

You're amazed at the amount of traffic your website is getting, and you're really pleased. This month you're getting double the traffic you got last month, and last month, the traffic was double that of the previous month!

It's Friday evening, and, amidst all the new work you're trying to manage to get done, you had three really successful business meetings. You're feeling a little wired from all the coffee you consumed at these meetings, but, generally, life is good.

You're looking forward to hearing from your three new clients on Monday, after they all promised to thoroughly go through your website on the weekend, and get back to you. You know these clients will be happy with what they find on your website, and you start planning that trip to Disney World that the kids have been begging you for.

The telephone rings.

One of the three clients you saw earlier in the day complains that he can't view your website. He says he's in a hurry to clinch this business deal, and hopes you'll have the website sorted by the morning.

The telephone rings again.

It's the second client you had a successful meeting with. He says he is unable to look at your website, and thought he should at least let you know that he found another website offering a service similar to yours and he was sorry, but he had already telephoned the website owner and would be hiring him instead of you.

You pick up the telephone a third time. This is so you can speak to your website host about sorting out more traffic being allowed through to your website before the end of the month when it automatically replenishes, and not just before the end of the month, but will he be able to do it tonight, Friday night?

Nobody picks up the telephone on the other side - all you get is an automated message saying that your website host is away for the weekend, to please leave a message, and he will get back to you first thing on Monday morning.

The telephone does not ring again. You never hear from the third potential client you had a meeting with. Your children don't get to go to Disney World either.
