How can you market a blog?

Marketing a blog is similar, or very much the same as marketing a website.

Leave a link to it wherever you can, but never spam people with it.
Make sure you include posts or articles on your blog that deal with the type of business you do, and include keywords or synonyms of those keywords that relate directly to your main products or services.
Leave decent comments on other blogs - and the link to your blog.
Join and participate in forums related to your interests or business.
Join and be an active member of business and social networking sites.

Even if you don't have a blog or website, you can still use free classifieds and business directories on the Internet to advertise your business, but instead of including a link to your website or blog, you can be messaged on the site you have joined, or you can be emailed, or leave your phone number if you feel safe doing so.

Not using a computer at all, some other free or cheap methods of advertising include:

Having small and simple black and white flyers printed, that briefly describes your business and displays your contact details. Then distribute these flyers anywhere and everywhere. Put them into people's post boxes or leave them on the counters of local stores that allow you to, in neat little piles.

You can also have slightly larger ones printed and stick them up on community notice boards.

You can get a stand at a flea market once in a while, and have flyers available for people to take home. While at your flea market stand, show off a few of your products, or have posters up describing your business. Be friendly to the people who make enquiries at your stand.

Advertise your products or services in the classifieds of the local newspapers and magazines.

Don't expect work to just fall into your lap
if you don't advertise what you do.
