How to help your website designer or SEO specialist get your website found

It is in your own best interest to do all you can to help your website be found on Google.

Don't believe people who promise you that your site will be found on page 1 of Google for various words. They may be promising this to hundreds of clients who want the same result for the same search words. It is not logical or possible that all can be found on page 1 of Google, because there is space on page one for only ten results per search word or search phrase used. (organic search results, not PPC)

You can, however, help a website designer or SEO specialist who has your best interests at heart, and who is honest and helpful, get your website more easily found.

If simply providing a website designer with a mere outline of the text content you're wanting to appear on your site, then hopefully you can trust him or her to produce the necessary quality and quantity of text required on your pages for your website to be more easily found by Search Engine robots.

Most web designers charge a fee for producing extra text content for your website, by writing the content themselves, or sourcing the work out to writers in their team, so to avoid having to pay extra, you can make sure you provide a lot of writing yourself. Even if your web designer still has to edit the work, and may charge you for this, at least all the writing is done, and you can save yourself some money.

If you're in a hurry to have your new website up and running, providing as much written content as you possibly can, also speeds up the process of getting your site completed. No matter how much of a hurry you're in, you don't want your web designer to do a bad job of optimizing your pages in the best way that he can. What's the point of having a website for your business if it's hardly ever going to be found, or if you have to spend a lot of time marketing it yourself? Website owners should always market their website as much as they can, but spending all day and night on it means there won't be time over to do any work!

You can, of course, use PPC advertising, but it may not even be necessary if your site is properly optimized. Save yourself some money. Or, use PPC at first, if you like, then if and when you see good results in the organic results, you can stop using PPC - but the good organic results are not going to happen just like that. Make sure you have lots of content, and that your content is good, with the main keywords repeated here and there, and especially near the beginning of your pages/articles. Also make sure not to copy and paste anybody else's work. You don't want Google not to index your site due to you having duplicate content on your site (a no-no.)

Include words in your text that are synonyms of the main keyword you are trying to optimize. Also always include the area from which your business operates.

Try and include the most important keywords near the top of a page of text, but not too many of them! Search Engine robots finding too many words that are the same near the top of your page will think you're trying to get a page one Google result when people use these words to search for a business like yours. This may be true, but the robots will report back to Google that it seems like you're trying to cheat the system and your site will be excluded from being indexed by Google.

If you don't feel up to getting your content just right, then you need to trust your website designer that he will.
